About the Role:
In this role, you’ll report to the Executive Chef and work within the skilled kitchen team. You’ll create authentic Chinese menus during visits from our estate’s Chinese owners and Chairman, while also collaborating on other culinary offerings when not focused on Chinese cuisine. Training in Western cuisine is available to further broaden your skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Menu Creation: Develop specialty Chinese menus for special visits by the Chairman and owners
- Daily Operations: Work on other menus with the culinary team when not preparing Chinese cuisine
- Quality Standards: Ensure high standards in presentation, taste, and authenticity of all dishes
- Training Opportunity: Enhance your skills in Western cuisine through hands-on training
Qualifications:
- Mandarin Proficiency: Strong communication skills in spoken and written Mandarin
- Chinese Culinary Expertise: Extensive experience with authentic Chinese cuisine
- Western Cuisine: Basic understanding with a willingness to learn
What We Offer:
- Flexible Schedule: Option for a 4-day roster with 3 days off, or a 5-day roster with 2 days off
- Work Hours: Typically 38-42 hours per week, with occasional overtime during Chairman visits (1-2 times per year)
- Time in Lieu: Earned after 42 hours per week
