Job Overview

Our client operates a renowned distillery based in Northern Tasmania, celebrated for producing high-quality spirits with a dedication to innovation. We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead operations, drive growth, and maintain excellence across all areas of the business.

Position Overview:
The General Manager (GM) will take charge of the distillery’s overall operations, set strategic direction, and build a strong management team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in distillery operations, business management, and sales, with the ability to lead transformational change and achieve long-term company goals. This is a great opportunity for a professional to make a move and set up roots in beautiful Tasmania. This is an onsite role, with possible relocation assistance available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Oversee daily operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Strategic Leadership: Implement manufacturing practices focused on continuous improvement, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Governance & Compliance: Develop a governance framework to guide business activities and align them with company goals.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor financial performance, adjust strategies as needed, and ensure business goals are met.
  • Team Leadership: Lead staff recruitment, training, and development, fostering a positive work environment and clear communication of company objectives.
  • Partnership Development: Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships to support growth and enhance market presence.
  • Sales & Marketing: Oversee sales and marketing efforts to maximize profitability and drive strong ROI.
  • Technology Integration: Ensure the effective use of IT systems to boost efficiency and support business objectives.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in senior management roles, with a proven record of success.
  • Experience in the alcohol industry, particularly in the sales and distribution of spirits in Australia and internationally.
  • Hands-on knowledge of distillation processes or experience in a distillery setting.
  • Strong financial literacy, with the ability to present financial reports to shareholders.
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, procurement, and operational protocols.
