About Our Client

Nestled in the stunning Blue Mountains, our client is renowned for delivering exceptional dining experiences. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Chef to lead their kitchen team and drive the culinary vision forward.

Position Overview

As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the efficiency, professionalism, and profitability of our client’s kitchen operations. You will ensure the highest quality and presentation of food and service while motivating and training your team to excel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and recommend new menu items based on market trends, ensuring they are costed, tested, and approved.
  • Execute full menu support, including standard recipes, preparation procedures, and cost analysis.
  • Collaborate with Executive Management to meet menu deadlines and improve quality and cost-efficiency
  • Provide hands-on training for kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to hygiene and food regulations.
  • Oversee recruitment, induction, and regular performance reviews of kitchen staff.
  • Foster team building, morale, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to and control the operational budget to maximize profits.
  • Reconcile weekly food results, monitor kitchen labor results, and maintain agreed par levels.
  • Implement cost-saving strategies and report monthly operational figures to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for kitchen operations, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Ensure food service excellence, compliance with food safety regulations, and efficient supply management.
  • Work regular or split shifts as needed to meet business demands.
  • Conduct weekly kitchen management meetings and monthly staff meetings to ensure clear communication.
  • Assist with changes in restaurant/event functions and develop food promotions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or similar role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
