An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head Chef to lead the culinary operations at a prestigious private college in Central Melbourne. With a brand-new, state-of-the-art hospitality facility, we are seeking a passionate and innovative chef to shape the future of dining at the college.
About the Role:
- Monday to Friday, 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM (Events outside these hours will be required, with time off provided during college holidays)
- Oversee the production and presentation of high-quality meals for students, staff, and special events
- Develop creative and contemporary menus for residential dining, daily meals, and diverse events
- Manage ordering and inventory, ensuring cost control and quality ingredients
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of kitchen staff, fostering a strong and efficient team culture
- Implement and maintain food safety and hygiene protocols, ensuring compliance with all regulations
- Establish new operational processes in a state-of-the-art kitchen, ensuring efficiency and excellence
- Coordinate and execute a variety of events, from intimate fine dining to large-scale functions catering up to 1000 guests
About You:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-volume, quality-focused environment
- Strong people management skills with experience leading and developing a team
- Ability to design and execute contemporary and innovative menus
- Experience working in event catering and large-scale food production
- Exceptional organizational and leadership skills
- A passion for high-quality food presentation and culinary excellence
- Strong understanding of budgeting, food costs, and supplier management
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic and evolving kitchen environment
Requirements:
- Working with Children Check (WWC)
- Food Safety Supervisor Certification
- Full Australian working rights
