The Head Chef will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the cafe’s culinary reputation. Responsibilities include:
- Curating and executing a menu rich in seasonal flavors, with a focus on paninis, salads, and pastries.
- Ensuring the procurement of high-quality ingredients from Melbourne’s farmers markets and liaising with esteemed local bakeries for pastries.
- Managing kitchen staff, including overseeing a kitchenhand and potentially a second chef in the future.
- Collaborating with the Catering Manager to ensure smooth operational processes.
- Driving the cafe’s expansion plans, which include extending service to 7 days and introducing a dinner service.
- A qualified chef with a strong background in, or passion for, European and French cuisine.
- Experience in high-caliber culinary settings, preferably in cafe environments.
- Adept in engaging with customers and leading a kitchen team.
- Skilled in menu planning, purchasing, and kitchen management.
- Creative culinary expertise with a flair for upholding the French theme of the cafe.
